Now more than ever people are actively looking for ways on improving their lives after this difficult year.
Most of you have already thought of a couple of “after lock down” resolutions, and the focus is all on
building a better you, a better life and promoting the quality of your life.
Now let me ask, what is important to YOU? Really important. I want you to get down to the nitty gritty and dive deep. If you want a happier and wealthier life, you are already half way there, as the conscious decision has been made – and where thought goes, energy flows. This is
great news – but where to go from here?
- GET TO KNOW YOURSELF.
This is where you can really ask yourself some important questions and get to know your true self.
- what really makes you happy?
- what habbits currently bring you down?
- what unhealthy habbits have you broken?
- what new skills have you learned in the past 5 years?
- what friends keeps circling you in old patterns?
- what interferes with you keeping up your good habbits?
Answers here could be that family really makes you happy but your current job requires you to travel most of your time. Maybe you live too far from your true friends and are in the wrong circles and crowds. You might have forgotten your real passion in life, that long lost dream you used to
pursue and simply gave up on in the midst of everyday life. You might be feeling run down and sluggish thus dont have energy to undertake that new project. Whatever it may be, identify the wall between you and your goals.
- HAVE FUN.
Ask yourself the question, when last did you really have fun? What do you consider to be fun?
We grow up so fast and then put ourselves in classified little boxes, forgetting all about the fun and freedom that makes us feel alive. We lost our inner child somewhere along the way.
Fun has a different meaning to every person but at the most basic form it means enjoyment, amusement, or light-hearted pleasure.
Make time to have more fun – go on camping trips, fishing, swimming, dancing, singing, cooking, sky-diving, scuba-diving, horseback riding, hiking, exploring.
If finances poses a problem, set aside a little bit every month and make a effort to put your happiness first. You deserve it.
- APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR LIFE.
What we see is people racing around in a world of want. New purchases simply dont give that feeling we thought it was going to give – and the effects wear off fast. You spend your whole life wanting a new car, and then when you finally get the new car you expect it to feel different,
to feel more real. Then at a later stage the feeling creeps up that you want more and more, better and better – all to satisfy your hunger for possessions and all the outer. When you are empty on the inside, no amount of objects will ever fill that void.
We as humans are awakening, and we are realizing that material
items dont bring long-lasting happiness.
A simple technique is to appreciate what you have in your life.
Wake up each morning and count your blessings. Go into the day being grateful for being alive, to have your family, to have a home, to have food and water, health, clothes, the list goes on and on. Just take 5 minutes every morning and instead of dreading the day ahead, start by counting
blessings. This will automatically shift your whole day and attract positive things into your life.
- DRINK MORE WATER
Yes, you have heard this so many times over and over. The real importance is how water can change your health and well being in the simplest of ways. Studies show that most illnesses are caused by dehydration and we just label it with fancy words. People think that they drink a lot of water
because they have tea, coffee, soft drinks ect. But did you know that your body classifies anything liquid that is not plain water as liquid food? Your brain takes the necessary energy from the water it needs already when in the mouth, then after swallowing your body distributes the water to different organs as is needed. When you dont drink water in pure form, your brain does not get the necessary hydration and goes into dehydration mode. This is where a lot of sicknesses originate.
By drinking 2 cups of fresh, spring water apon waking – it is said that many illnesses can be cured.
These include pain in any part of the body, cardiovascular disorders and diseases, tachycardia, epilepsy, increased blood fat levels, bronchitis, asthma, tuberculosis, meningitis, kidney and urinary tract diseases,
vomiting, gastritis, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, diabetes, constipation, eye and vision problems.
The list goes on, but hydrating yourself is key.
- HANG OUT WITH HAPPY PEOPLE
Simply put, why do you want to hang out with negative, depressed people when you are trying to create more happiness in your life. Like attacks like.
When you encounter a negative person in your life, dont engage in the negativity. Dont allow yourself to add fuel, instead counter act with positive replies and solutions.
Try to spend as little time as necessary with the person, as it has a very draining effect – like the energy vampires. When you do engage in conversation, stick to light hearted subjects.
Negative people will slow you down towards your goals. Have a clear picture in your mind of the type of people you want to attract in your life, and how it fits in with your dreams and goals. If you want to be more successful at work, hang out with influential people, people who
inspire you to drive yourself harder towards your goals.
When you are surrounded by happy, positive people , your whole life will take a shift for the better.
- JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN, DOESNT MEAN YOU MUST.
This truly goes for all aspects of your life.
Just because you can eat a whole plate of strawberry cheese cake, doesn’t mean you must.
Just because you can party all night, doesn’t mean you must.
Yes, the little word, consequences. Need I say more.
- GET HEALTHY AND ACTIVE.
When you read up on how unhealthy fast food is, how dangerous binge drinking is, how addictive drugs are, how destructive smoking is…. dont you think it is time to pay attention?
It is however very easy to fall into cycles and also quick to get bored with repetitive cycles. Just eating salad and veggies all day really does not have a happy ring to it.
And how much easier is it not to just grab takeaways every day… no dishes.
The secret is to balance things out. Some tips are:
- Keep fresh fruit for when you are on the go.
- Keep yourself busy so not to continuesly think about food.
- Keep an active lifestyle, even at the least walking is one of the best excersizes.
- Smoothies are great and fast for in the mornings, as your body is still busy detoxing and a heavy breakfast just adds onto the pressure of eliminating toxins.
- Make excersize fun by doing things you like e.g dancing, playing volleyball, boogy boarding –
you are never to old to try something new. - Make your main meal a special time for the family to be together and if possible avoid eating large meals at night as your metabolism is then at the lowest rate.
- Dont say never again, because it never happens. Rather take things day by day. Just for today I am not having a cigarette, and then tomorrow start all over again. Baby steps.
- Allow yourself treats, spoil yourself. Dont feel guilty for having something the body craves like some chocolate or ice-cream, just dont overdo it.
8. SPEND WISELY
For most of us, this is the hardest one. Personally I love shopping but even shopping can at times be a substitute to fill a emptiness inside. When this is the case, starting a new hobby you are passionate about is a great remedy.
To spend wisely means that you dont just live for the moment, and shop on impulse.
A good way to practice this is to go window shopping. Say to yourself that you can have this, you can have that, but at a later time. If your really still want it after a week, by all means go for it.
Most often you forget about the item.
This allows that constant craving of buy buy buy to subside.
In turn you will have more money saved for important things. You will have that extra money when something goes wrong unexpected. You will not have to go take out a loan and get deeper into debt. You will in turn have less stress and more financial freedom.
Concentrate on paying off your debts. Take the smallest one on the list and push extra funds in to pay it off as quick as possible. Then follow on to the next.
Debts are a dark cloud of stress and tension, it steals your happiness as it constantly drags your thoughts down.
A good thought is to differentiate between wants and needs. When you really want something and you are prepared to buy it on credit just for the sake of having it, ask yourself if you can truly afford it. Will this item really make you happy or will it just add to the cloud of stress and tension.
With all of this said, lets try to turn things around and make it our personal best year yet.
